When you picture the perfect engagement photos, chances are you’re envisioning those authentic, unposed moments that capture your unique love story—the ones with pure laughter, a soft glance, or spontaneous playfulness. We call those candids. But here’s the thing: those dreamy shots don’t just happen—they’re created in the “in-between” moments.

 

WHAT ARE CANDIDS?

Candids are about moving beyond stiff, overly posed moments and creating space for genuine connection. Let’s be real—unless you’re a professional model, most people need and appreciate a little direction. Many couples come into their session worried about “looking awkward.” If that’s you, you’re definitely not alone! 🫶 In reality, it’s not about how you look but how you feel during the session. My job? 

To make you feel comfortable, confident, and free to be yourself.

I know—it might sound contradictory to talk about candids & posing together. 🙈 But here’s the thing: giving you some initial direction helps you feel grounded & comfortable. Once I guide you into a pose that works, you can relax, and we’re off to a great start. 😊

 

2. Go with What Feels Natural

Once you’re settled, I encourage you to follow what feels natural. 💛 If the pose leads to a laugh, a kiss, or a sweet moment—lean into it! These are the moments I’m looking to capture: the genuine expressions that tell your story.
