How to Communicate Your Photo Vision to Your Photographer:
Tips for Engagements, Weddings, Family Sessions, and More
Effective communication is crucial when it comes to capturing your perfect photos. Whether you’re planning an engagement shoot, a wedding, or a family session, ensuring that your photographer understands your vision is key to achieving the stunning images you’ve always dreamed of. Here’s how you can clearly communicate your photo vision to me:
- Share Photos and Screenshots: Send me photos or screenshots of the types of images you love. This can include specific poses, styles, or moments you’ve seen online. Visual examples are incredibly helpful in understanding your aesthetic preferences and ensuring we capture your vision accurately.
- Send Your Pinterest Board: If you have a Pinterest board filled with inspiration for your shoot, share it with me. This gives me insight into what you’re gravitating towards, whether it’s a particular theme, color palette, or vibe. Your Pinterest board can be a fantastic resource for aligning our styles and ideas.
- Create a Canva Document: Consider creating a Canva document with images that represent what you want and include photos of the locations where you envision these shots. This detailed guide will help me understand exactly where and how you want your moments captured, making the planning process smoother and more precise.
- Communicate on the Day: Feel free to share any last-minute ideas or inspirations on the day of the shoot. If you spot something on-site that you’d like to incorporate, let me know. Open communication on the day ensures that we can capture spontaneous and memorable moments that reflect your vision.
Remember, my mission is to bring your photo dreams to life, and effective communication is the key to making that happen. While I will bring my unique vision, style, and ideas to your shoot, collaborating with you ensures that the final images are exactly what you’ve been dreaming and pinning. Let’s work together to create breathtaking photos that you will cherish forever.
NOW here is an example of how this was done!!
When Alyssa reached out to me about her small ceremony I was thrilled because she was going to have her ceremony in Presidio Park which meant that we could take pictures at The Junipero Serra Museum which is where I got married!
She sent me a pinterest board with photos she had been pinning for who knows how long, and I used it to get an idea of poses and the overall vibe she wanted to see in her final gallery. This is what her Pinterest board looked like... and below is what she got!
